Off To Markit

It was cold, I had lots of work to do, I went anyway. Markit was held at Federation Square, in the atrium, on Sunday morning.
"Markit@FedSquare is a unique Melbourne shopping experience. For one day only, the light-filled Atrium & The Edge Theatre at Federation Square becomes home to 100 of Australia’s most coveted independent designers and illustrators. This is a curated market focusing on illustrative and decorative design products with limited edition pieces ranging from fashion to jewellery, home-wares and collectibles."

I had to whiz around because of the guilt of leaving the family and the work, but I found a million amazing things, bought too many and even squeezed a chat or two in with some of the makers (who were all really friendly).

One the first stalls I came upon was Urban Cartel. I could not help but get one of the little half pint bud vases for my sister who has been so kind to me. Such beautiful porcelain ware!
"Based in Melbourne, Australia. Urban Cartel was founded in early 2011 by Craig Pearce. {They} design and manufacture a range of handmade porcelain tableware with an emphasis on clean lines & functional design."

Next on my list was Jubly-Umph. Such great stuff. They focus on tattoo / rockabilly art and jewellery, and apparently have a fabulously fast delivery service from their online shop, so you too can be a proud owner of one of their beauties.

The work of Christine Battocchio blew me away - such beautiful chunky, but finely crafted items. I think one might be coming my way for my birthday.

More tomorrow folks. xxx Bron
